yeah it’s weird that larp is catching strays here, this is the only time i’ve ever seen someone imply that larping takes things less seriously that roleplaying does when it’s usually the exact opposite in my humble experience

well actually now that i think, it’s impossible to “live action role play” in a video game isn’t it? really this video should just have the message “don’t be a little bitch” attached to it instead of shots fired at the larping community

Whereas a roleplayer will do a role temporarily just for fun, a larper is someone who takes their role so seriously that they model their entire behavior and in-game persona around it, never break character, and get mad when people don't take them seriously. There's been a couple notable larpers in Elite's history, Hadrian Duval comes to mind. But this is the first time a larper has outright threatened me, so now he gets to be a meme!

@@CrimsonGamer99 ah i see !! just recently got into elite dangerous (i’ve yet to get close to an elite rank in anything 😓) so i’m still getting a feel for the meta language-‘gank’ was the easiest to translate because it largely retains it’s meaning across disciplines but this is the first i’ve seen larp used outside of the hyper specific bubble of IRL larping/TTRPG spaces-as a proud larper elsewhere i will try my best to lead a non-larp lifestyle now that i’m in the black lmao

This whole conversation is pointless. It doesn't matter if they're harmless or Elite, the Type-8 being still in early access, you kind of have to buy it with ARX. Despite, they might as well be Elite in trade, we don't know. At least they knew to submit to the interdiction, which is a sign they have some clue about what they're doing.

Harmless Type-8 understood the assignment, submits, drops cargo, and is left to go about his merry way. "Expert" Python fights interdiction, loses, runs, threatens attacker with a "hit", nearly dies while typing, threatens to call SPEAR, flees to solo, and provides enough content in the process for me to be able to turn him into a shitpost.

This is the first ship I have ever "fully" engineered as well, using the new engineering system. Most of my builds are "good enough" with a little bit left in each G5 roll that won't change the end result by much. This ship is FULLY engineered, all the way to the max. This ended up becoming a great early multirole ship. Fantastic jump range for the size. If you want more cargo, swap out HRPs.

and the least interesting field to larp.

Burst lasers suck. I actually started scrolling through the available mods when I realized why nobody runs them. They have NOTHING worth running.

No, most PvP ships are equipped with thermal weapons to get through shields. Anything kinetic usually has Incendiary on it, which converts 90% of the damage to thermal. You want as much thermal resistance as possible on the armor.

@@CrimsonGamer99 the kinetic weapons are still kinetic, that experimental demage only transfers certain amount of kinetic demage to thermal. Most of the demage is still kinetic. Reactive armor gives you the best balance in resistance across the board. I've experimented with all three bulkheads and best result I had was with reactive and military grade.

@@sammasic5849 it transfers 90% of the damage to thermal. Incendiary weapons become basically thermal weapons. I have done PvP in this game for 8+ years, I know what I am talking about.

@@CrimsonGamer99 so did I , but I'm getting different results here when I go pvp 8k hours here and I can tell you in pvp I rarely lost, only to people that were much better or are in groups. Again this is just my opinion.

Glad you asked! A big part of it is the negative resistance. Everybody runs thermal damage these days to tear through shields (which, no matter what you do, are gonna be bad at tanking thermal), and Reactives cut your thermal resistance significantly. It is also the cost. The base cost isn't the issue, it's that they add a ton to the rebuy which adds up over time.

NPCs also tend to be thermal-heavy (they suck at landing anything that isn't hitscan), so this applies to PvE as well as PvP.

If that's your biggest gripe, then you've clearly never engineered anything.

@@CrimsonGamer99 quiet in contrast Sir, i played that game when engineering came out, had a Python ( 6 mil in re buy ) at that time and 30 mil in credits, gathered material for engineering and got blown to pieces by NPC's 5 times in a row, who had / where fully engineered already, while the "normal" player just started engineering, that made me quit the game
